1by-day changes over the years

Hello folks,

This is my first post here. I found this place because I rejoined 1by-day.com after several years absence. To my surprise, the site has ceased running two sets per day and even removed some of the sets.

I have every set from January 2001 to December 2007 and every record of what went on between 2004 and 2007 - such as errors, covers being replaced, etc. Basically, I've kept a catalog up until December 31st 2007. Now that I'm joining up and starting again, I was wondering if anyone has kept such a catalog since that time? I know that things change and I was wondering if anyone else has kept such records since the end of 2007.

Cheers

Ahh ... so, you're Batman !!! ;)

Actually, my search for a catalog is what led me to this site.

indexxx.com is a good start, but I'm after a whole lot more. For a start, does not indicate how many images are in each set. It relies on the image count on the cover. Yet image count errors are not rare at 1By-Day. For example: in November 2007 there are six such image count errors:

Date:Model:Claimed Image Count:Actual Image Count:
22/11/2007Hannah Hunter125100
23/11/2007Kyla Fox95110
23/11/2007Ginger & Carmen125145
24/11/2007Angelina Crow150180
26/11/2007Awie95105
26/11/2007Mili Jay & Suzie Carina95175

I have a huge list of errors. Different types of error include:
  • Faulty or corrupted images
  • Missing images
  • Duplicated images
  • Duplicated sets reposted years later and claimed as "New"
  • Some images being a different resolution
  • Some sets having a variety of resolutions
  • Sets being removed from the site
  • Spelling errors
  • Grammatical errors
  • Wrong Model Name on set
  • Cover being changed after release date (often after I've identified one of the above errors)

There are others, but these are the main ones.

I was just wondering if anyone else keeps such detailed info. I also keep a full record of Pier999 and several other sites. When Pier999 stopped I audited the whole catalog at TheNude.eu and brought them up to date.

I'm sure most collectors aren't as serious about it as I am, but I thought there might be one or two.

Cheers

Interesting work. It basically the idea why Indexxx started: to get an overview of the sets and the associated model. Indexxx, or previously called Modelindexxx, started with DDF's 1By-Day (notice the "1" as the first id in http://www.indexxx.com/websites/1/1by-day/ ).
But you go further in the metadata of each set, so that you have the complete set and that everything within it is correct.

There are collector communities that use a predefined CSV file format and associated tools to track their collections. The process comes down to this:
1) Some master collector creates a CSV file (using tools) listing every image with the following info: filename, self made up relative directory (example: "2007-11-22 - Hannah Hunter"), checksum of the file for verification, file size (can also be used for verification). A CSV file is usually created per collection, for example, the collection of 1By-Day images of 2002. Then another CSV file for 2003 etc.
2) The master collector publishes the CSV file somewhere. For example on a website.
3) Other collectors who want to organize their 1By-Day files according to the CSV that the master created, can download the CSV file and use a special tool to structure their files/directories according to the CSV file. The CSV tools uses the checksum to find matching files. (So even when a file is renamed, it will find it.)

Because the collector CSV format contains a checksum, it can verify whether the downloaded files match to the defined files in the master. The CSV tools can also give a list of missing files compared to the master CSV. But in the end, CSV collecting is only based on filesystem data: it doesn't now about the concept of a model/babe or whether sets are republished, or what resolution it has, only about directory names, filename, file content checksum etc.

But, I don't know whether such communities are still active. (I'm not a CSV collector.)

I think the growth of Internet and technology might have reduced the CSV community:
-Now there are way more porn websites (like 1By-Day), so more to track, more difficult to get an overview.
-Increased quality of photos/videos, and thus an increased file size. If you want to collect DDF, you'll need a big hard disk.
-Because there are more porn sites than in the CSV time, people will maybe shift from: collecting all sets of a website --> collecting all sets of a model, but because also the amount of models has grown... --> people might default to just looking at random sets they like, or they watch a porn tube.

Interesting work.

Thanks. It takes a lot of time. I have full catalogs of Asian4You and Pier999. As both of thos sites have closed I've been able to finalise those catalogs. The Asian4You one was the best, because I've added pic 01 from each set to the spreadsheet. Looks awesome.

But you go further in the metadata of each set, so that you have the complete set and that everything within it is correct.

Yes. I also review the whole library each year. Currently I'm working on The Black Alley and 1By-Day. DDF had a system crash in 2011. They lost a lot of sets, but I still have them ... ;) Anyway, I started reporting so many bugs to DDF that they gave me a full year's membership free provided I reviewed the 2011 year, which I did, every set. But it was so time consuming that I couldn't keep up to date with 2012, which I 'm doing now.

The Black Alley (TBA) is plodding along. They are apparently the same people who did Asian4You, or they've bought the rights to it. Unfortunately their current crop of models aren't that great and they tend to rotate a small group of 5-6 models for 10-15 sets and then move on. I think they're using Thai bar girls or something because few of the girls rate in my eyes.

There are collector communities that use a predefined CSV file format and associated tools to track their collections. ...

Yes, very familiar with that. I used to contribute to Site Geisha, which was run by Fujiko Fujio (alias, of course). I was doing some of the early CSV work for TBA when he shut down due to financial and time commitments. Pity really. Shortly after I deleted the CSVs for Asian4You and TBA, and deleted the CSV software. But it's still available on line and I've kept copies on a portable drive.

But, I don't know whether such communities are still active. (I'm not a CSV collector.)

You'll remember that the CSV software was used for stuff that was downloaded through newsgroups. People still do that. I've gone on to simply become a member of the sites that interest me.

I think the growth of Internet and technology might have reduced the CSV community...

I doubt it. I agree that there are many more sites and many more models. It's also amazing just how cheap it is to get a girl to take off her clothes these days. But I digress... The big change is torrents and the cloud-like sites such as RapidShare and MegaUpload. Combined with explosion of forums, these have been the preferred methods of sharing content.
